To use a mailing list in a mail
  • Select the mailing list to be used by clicking in the "list" button/icon.
The mailinglists name will be displayed in the CC field.



Shortcuts

  • CTRL-A
    Adds stated address and name to current list.
  • CTRL-N
    Clears the Address and the Name fields.
  • CTRL-U
    Close the window.




Special

When one of the destination addresses fails and returns to you it is possible to find it in the list by dragging the returned address into the address field in the mailing list window.
If it is found just click in the delete button and the address is removed.

Technical

  • When the list reaches the limit of 100 mail including the normal mail address it splits into several mails.
  • If Supress recipient list is selected
    then MyMAIL will add Precedence: bulk to the mail header.
    And the mailing list will be hidden for the mail receiver.

  • Addresses failing directly at send of a mailinglist is saved in a file named failed.txt
  • More than 8 failing addresses in line will abort the sending of a mailing list.
    Do check the failed.txt file for failing addresses and then remove all the failing addresses from the mailing list.
  • If you edit the mailing list manualy you need to save it in ATARI(DOS) format (cr/lf) and not in unix format.













Creating a
new
mailing list:

  • How to create a new list
    • Select a not used (blank) mailing list from the popup.
    • Give the mailing list a name.
    • Add addresses.
  • Import
    • Create a textfile with one address per line.
    • Select a empty mail list
    • Give it a name
    • Import the file

Auto update
To get autoupdating of a mailing list you have to:
  • state a special subject for add that mymail will look after.
  • state a special subject for remove that mymail will look after.
  • you have to state a "tag" for the mail addres that mymail will look after in the mail text.
  • you have to state a "tag" for the name of the user that mymail will look after in the mail text.

If mymail finds the subject and the tag it will add or remove from the list using the inputs from the taged lines.

The tags with info from a mail can look like this:
Name: Erik Hall
eMail: erikhall@tripnet.se
Name is the tag for the name in this case
eMail is the tag for the mail address in this case

MyMAIL is using this function for adding and removing MyMAIL users from the maillist using a web-page to do the updates.
This can be used to get autoupdates of a mailing list from a web page.

Note that the subject checking are case sensitive.
